OUR NOTEHobbit figures stand in a grassy Shire garden hung with colored bunting, from a rerun of Karpathy's Lord of the Rings experiment where Opus 5.5 built the world with no token cap, costing $252.
I just reran Karpathy’s Lord of the Rings experiment with Opus 5.5...
Karpathy capped Opus 5 at 1M tokens, around $10.
this time I gave Opus 5.5 no token cap at all.
same basic setup:
> first paragraph of LOTR
> let it build the world
> let it run for hours
and it absolutely destroyed Opus 5.
the result looks WAY better.
it also burned through $252 worth of tokens lol.THE PROMPT

We're starting to leave the territory where you'd test an LLM by e.g. "create an svg of pelican on a bicycle". As one idea to generalize it, I was interested what Opus 5 would do if I gave it the first paragraph of the Lord of the Rings, a 1M token budget (~$10) and asked for three js render of it. Opus went off for ~2...
